Well, just had my second photo shoot, this time with Annelies. Big difference with the last shoot is I mostly focussed on getting just two light setups just right. I also found out it isn't only important to have the model sit or stand in the right spot for the lighting to be right, but also at what angle her body and face are. Last shoot was also much more about flooding the stage with light, while I got back to a 2 light setup for this one allowing me to focus much more on getting those 2 just right.

As always, I'm nowhere near close being satisfied with my shots, but it is very encouraging to see them become better. For the next shoot I'll focus on preparations more (instead of mucking around like I did before) so I can get more out of my time with my model, getting some attributes for more variety in my compositions and creating at least one more good light setup.

I'm really starting to love model studio photography - very different from what I've done before and much harder than I thought... I'll definitely keep my focus on it. I'll still post some other shots from time to time though.

The sheer count of "I'm back" messages can sometimes be a bit disconcerting and I'm no exception apparently.

However, the reason I haven't updated much in the last years is because I've become weary of animating. While I almost always love the end results and while the creation process starts out very creative and fun, 99% of the rest of the time is often neither interesting or creative - more like production work.

So what now? Well, I've recently (re)started with something I haven't done for over 10 years - Photography... Yeah I know, the last thing deviantART needs is another photographer, but honestly I don't care. I've had ridiculous amounts of fun getting back into photography these last few months and will post the (better) result here in the coming months / years / forever. Animating on deviantART might be more of a niche and I definitely don't expect any large amount of followers for my first (re)attempts at photography... but maybe in time - you too will very much enjoy my photo's - I can only get better (I hope).

All I know is I love being creative again and look forward to becoming part of the deviantART community again. Any professional photographers that want to give me any pointers - PLEASE DO!

- Trapcode's Plugins (Particular, Shine, 3D Stroke, Form) -> These professional plugins allow some really amazing things to be done in Adobe After Effects.
- Adobe Photoshop CS3 -> Stills and other stuff
- Gif MovieGear -> for uptomizing the gif animations and making them as small as humanly/computerly possible.
- Macromedia Flash 8 -> Cos longerand bigger animations don't really work in GIF... and everyone has flash anyway...

Get ready for The13thSin 2.0

Allright then, I was finally able to figure out my software issues and convert & submit the first 2 devArts since a loooooooong long time. Brainstorm 4's the only decent one though, be sure to check that one out. Second one is a mediocre attempt at an avatar... man I really need to get back into this, cos originality used to be my thing... I'll get it back though, I'm sure.

To my great dismay, I found out most of my devFriends have been gone for 1/2 a year or more, probably never to return. Fortunately, some of them are still alive and kicking fortunately, hope to hear soon from you all!

So, you ask, what have I been up to since the last time I was active here? Well, I've been studying really hard (no wait, that would be partying really hard), finding out I didn't really like to be only doing theoretical stuff, changing to a different major, finding out again I still don't like only doing theoretical stuff, starting my own business with some coding genius (Morose Media -> Webdevelopment), finding out I really like it, also finding out it takes 60 hours a week to run your own business, expanding the business, putting university on hold for a year (starting now), getting back to deviantArt. ... Yeah that's pretty much it in a nutshell.
So why am I back? To get a bit more insperation for my designs. I you want to see some of the work I've done as a webdesigner, be sure to check morose.nl (english) and under "project" there are a couple of projects for you to see. Leave any feedback in this journal if you did.
